The Challenge of Conservation
As many of you pointed out yesterday there are many species on our beautiful planet that face extinction, and desperately need our help and attention… This truth can be overwhelming and somewhat paralyzingly in its scope… With this in mind, where does one begin? My feeling is this:
Begin with your passion. If one cause speaks more to your heart than another, follow it!
After realizing the peril Rhinos and Elephants face, my passion for their cause revealed itself to me yesterday. “But what about all the other animals???” many if you asked.
My feeling is this. On a quantum level of connectivity, by focusing on one cause, you help all causes. So pick yours and help them all…
Remember: everyone can understand the drop entering the ocean, but not all can understand the ocean entering the drop. For me, passion is the point of focus for change. To extend your passion to cover a broad range of problems, while noble, dilutes the efficacy of your passions focus… A nuclear bomb explodes when one atom is split, not 100.
All that said, conservationists are faced with the challenge of changing the culture of supply and demand that drives black market desires. Consequently, conservationist face a monumental challenge. A challenge that needs the fuel of passion… Don’t let the bleakness and broad range of our challenges distract you form your passions power… Get involved, whatever its, get passionate, and lets get going. We got work to do.
Our bright future is ours to be made.
